Ultrasonic Flow Non-invasive clamp-on flow monitor for pipes

Flow Pulse®

Non-invasive clamp-on flow monitor for pipes

Flow Pulse® is a unique, non-invasive flow monitor that clamps to the outside of a pipe and is simply secured with a screwdriver.

Flow Pulse offers you exceptional repeatability at a fraction of the cost of an equivalent magflow meter. It can reliably monitor flow across a variety of pipe materials including rigid plastic, stainless steel, cast iron and even corrugated pipes.

The Technology Within Flow Pulse

Flow Pulse fires ultrasound through the pipe wall at 90 degrees to the flow via a tangentially mounted high-output ceramic. Ultrasound is refracted at angles across the axis of the flow and is then reflected from bubbles, particles and vortices in all directions and at a wide range of frequencies.

The returned signal is analysed using Flow Pulse's Refracted Spread Spectrum Analysis (RSSA) digital signal processing platform to derive flow information. RSSA analyses and integrates the received signals over a wide frequency range, then slices them for real-time analysis and flow rate calculation.

Flow Pulse® Options

Flow Pulse is available in two versions depending upon the application's pipe size.

  • 30 to 350mm pipe diameter
  • 30mm to 1250mm pipe diameter

Flow Pulse can either operate as a stand-alone device or can interface directly with Pulsar's dedicated wall mounted Flow Monitor.

  • Flow Monitor Blackbox

Flow Monitor is a dedicated wall mounted device for Flow Pulse and can only be used with the Flow Pulse unit. Flow Monitor provides the power and interface for the Flow Pulse via a 4-core cable. It expands the capability of Flow Pulse, providing two relays that can be programmed as alarm or control for flow or velocity. Either relay can be programmed as a totaliser. Flow Monitor also provides a mA output and on-board logging, including a daily total. Typical capacity is 36 days flow logging at 1 minute intervals. Flow Monitor has a LCD display showing flow rate and flow velocity (selectable), and is menu-programmable via a set of function keys.

    Flow Monitor Features
Power for Flow Pulse 22-28V DC and Universal AC 85-264V
Display for flow/velocity from single Flow Pulse controller
    Setup of Flow Pulse sensor
Two programmable relays for control and alarm
Daily and system / resettable totalisers
Logging, setup and download via Optional Log Software

    Applications:
    Water and Waste Water
    Food and Beverage
    Quarrying
Any flow with a minimum particle size of 100µ and concentration of 200ppm or above (the equivalent of hard water)
  • Flow Pulse Handheld Controller

Flow Pulse Handheld Controller is an indispensable tool for portable flow monitoring, offering a toolset that allows programming, monitoring and data acquisition. The unit is available to connect to pre-installed Flow Pulse sensors or as a self-contained kit, with instant feedback via its clear colour screen. For true portability, the Handheld Controller will power a Flow Pulse directly, giving instant feedback on flow rate for a dynamic assessment of system or pump performance.
The Flow Pulse Handheld is available as a stand-alone unit to use with pre-existing Flow Pulse sensors, or can optionally be purchased as a complete kit with Flow Pulse and a compact and convenient carry case. Mains or battery operation, with in-car charger.
